The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations (Rasd Coalition) strongly condemns the Houthi group's detention of the renowned academic Dr. Hamoud Al-Awdi, Abdulrahman Al-Olafi, and researcher Anwar Shaab, after they were summoned on Monday, November 10, by the group's security and intelligence apparatus, and raiding the "Dal" Center for Social Studies and confiscated its contents.

Rasd coalition affirms that this incident constitutes arbitrary detention and abduction targeting freedom of thought and expression, especially since the summons of Al-Awdi and his colleagues came after an intellectual meeting that discussed ways to achieve de-escalation and national reconciliation. This exposes the group's approach, which is based on silencing civil voices and criminalizing dialogue.

Rasd Coalition considers the transfer of Al-Awdi and Al-Olafi to a new detention center in Sana'a after their enforced disappearance, and the confiscation of the contents of an independent research center, a blatant violation of freedom of thought and expression and human rights. It warns of the dangerous path the Houthi group is taking, which proves beyond any doubt that it seeks to silence dissenting voices and close any space for free discussion.

Rasd Coalition demands the immediate and unconditional release of Al-Awdi, Al-Olafi, and Shaab, and the return of the confiscated items, holding the Houthi group fully responsible for their safety. It also considers the targeting of intellectuals and academics in this manner an attack on Yemeni consciousness and a threat to social peace, and calls on the United Nations and international organizations to take urgent action to stop these systematic violations.
